Op het grasveld tussen het Molenwater en de Mattheus Smallegangehof heeft Anouk Kruithof (Dordrecht, 1981) de installatie Ahead gerealiseerd. Het zijn in totaal 1080 foto’s van individuen die uitsluitend met hun achterhoofd in beeld komen. Hoe ongewoon ook, het zijn toch portretten want volkomen uniek en onvervreemdbaar toebehorend aan die ene anonieme persoon. Maar in tegenstelling tot de klassieke gezichtsfoto valt er met deze achterhoofdfoto’s niks te labelen of te classificeren. Anouk Kruithof haalt zo de sociale scheidslijnen weg tussen mensen, een beeld voor de toekomst.
Voor Anouk Kruithof zijn foto’s veel meer dan een enkele afbeelding van iets uit de werkelijkheid. Zij zet foto’s in voor sculptuur, video’s, performances of een installatie. Zo reflecteert ze op de actualiteit van de wereld waarin ze leeft. Ze woont en werkt afwisselend in Mexico City, Amsterdam en New York
On the stretch of grass between the Molenwater and the Mattheus Smallegangehof, Anouk Kruithof (Dordrecht,1981) has set up the installation entitled Ahead. It consists in total of 1080 photos of individuals of whom only the back of the heads can be seen. However odd it may seem, they are still portraits as they are absolutely unique and inherently belong to that particular anonymous person. However, contrary to the classic photo of a face, with these ‘back of the head’ photos, there’s nothing to label or classify. In this way Anouk Kruithof gets rid of the social borders between people; an image for the future.
For Anouk Kruithof, photos are much more than a few pictures of something from the real world. She makes use of photos in sculpture, videos, performances or for an installation. In this way she reflects upon topical matters in the world in which she lives. She lives and works alternately in Mexico City, Amsterdam and New York.
Auf der Wiese zwischen dem Stadtpark Molenwater und dem Mattheur Smallegangehof hat Anouk Kruithof (Dordrecht, 1981) die Installation Ahead realisiert. Insgesamt sind es 1080 Fotos von Individuen, die ausschließlich mit ihren Hinterköpfen abgebildet werden. Auch wenn es ungewöhnlich erscheint, so sind es doch Portraits, die einzigartig und eindeutig einer einzigen Person zuzuordnen sind. Doch im Gegensatz zu klassischen Gesichtsportraits lassen sich die Hinterköpfe der Menschen nicht so einfach klassifizieren. Anouk Kruithof schafft es so, die soziale Trennung zwischen Menschen aufzulösen und ein Bild für die Zukunft zu schaffen. Für Anouk Kruithof sind Fotos viel mehr als nur die Abbildung einer Wirklichkeit. Sie bedient sich der Fotografie für Skulpturen, Videos, Performances oder Installationen und reflektiert so das Hier und Jetzt der Welt in der sie lebt. Die Künstlerin lebt und arbeitet abwechselnd in Mexico City, Amsterdam und New York.
